EdUKate: Multilingual Learning Materials for Ukrainian Children in Czech Schools

EdUKate is a TAČR-funded project carried out in partnership with Fraus, the largest textbook publisher in the Czech Republic. It aims to enhance the content and accessibility of digital education in the Czech educational system, with particular focus on Ukrainian speakers. We are adapting recent machine translation methods (Charles Translator) to create multilingual electronic educational materials and make them accessible to a broader audience.

In the talk, we will describe our use case(s), the MT methods used, and reveal the challenges and delights of translating (a) the domain of education and (b) interactive content. We will showcase our first outcomes: a live web portal featuring the implementation of the translated exercises.

*** The talk will be delivered in person (MFF UK, Malostranské nám. 25, 4th floor, room S1) and will be streamed via Zoom. For details how to join the Zoom meeting, please write to sevcikova et ufal.mff.cuni.cz ***
